Chinatown Market

With an impressive mix of market stalls and street food sellers; it's no wonder this is one of the coolest places to visit for shopping in Bangkok. Pick up inexpensive souvenirs or tasty Chinese Food.

Where's the best place to shop in Bangkok?

Markets and Malls

There's no doubt there's some fantastic shopping to be had in Bangkok. From flea markets to top end designer clothes stores. You'll always get a bargain in the markets, like you would anywhere else in the world, but it's a myth to think that Thailand is cheap for electronics and designer gear. Footwear is reasonably cheap, but other than that don't expect huge discounts.

If you're from the UK, the recent currency drop will probably mean you'll be paying more. I suppose that's the thing; if you have a strong currency you might get things cheaper!

Shopping malls are plentiful, and the main concentration of them can be found between the Siam and Chit Lom BTS Skytrain station, which are connected by a skywalk. See the Siam Shopping Adventure for more details.

Tip: Not sure of the legality of this in Thailand, but if you have a dress, or suit, in mind that you'd like. Try and take a photograph of it (or magazine page) and take it to Phahurat (Little India) and ask around the many textile shops selling fabrics. They may be able to produce one for you at a fraction of the cost.
