Some might consider this a budget hotel but, at 800 baht (880 with breakfast) a night, this hotel offers better amenities than other hotels, and hostels, for the same price. Away from the tourist areas, Saphan Kwai is ideally located for easy access to Don Mueang airport (by taxi).
Although the exterior may not look very grand, the room is basic but clean with all the usual amenities: TV, fridge, water, etc. Towels are also provided.
Some of the taxi drivers do not know where this hotel is, but if you tell them it is on Pradipat Road, they should find it no problem. It's within walking distance to Chatuchak Weekend Market (about 10-15 minutes) or one stop on the BTS.
What really makes this hotel worth the stay is the hotel's restaurant serving some of the best Thai food around, offering fresh seafood and a menu full of extremely palatable cuisines.
Pradipat Road is also full with hawker stalls serving hundreds of different soups and inexpensive meals, which is great if you don't feel like travelling too far, or if you just feel like staying in with a takeaway.
The Big C supermarket is near Saphan Khwai BTS station. Apart from great shopping, it also offers Western style restaurants, including KFC and other Thai-run eateries.
